Feminine and Flirty- What to wear for a Coquette Inspired Boudoir Session.

Just for fun, I thought it would be fun to style some different “aesthetics” for a boudoir session in case you’re planning a photoshoot and need some inspiration! So here’s the first in the series, the Coquette. A disclaimer, it’s 2024 and there are a thousand aesthetics, some of this could overlap another style (hey, Cottagecore, we’ll cover you later!) or fall into another category, just don’t worry about it, tailor to your own style and have fun with it! 💋

What we’ll cover:

  • 🍒 Aesthetic overview

  • 🍒 Examples from my work

  • 🍒 Outfit inspiration links

  • 🍒 Accessories & other details.

🎀 What is the Coquette Aesthetic? 🎀

The general vibe of Coquette is ultra feminine, romantic, sweet, playful.

Elements like:

🌷The color Pink, ruffles, lace, headbands. 🎀 Bows on everything!

💋 Flirty, girly, with the cuts of clothing generally smaller and higher like empire waist, baby ts, camisoles, corsets, lacy lingerie inspired pieces, shorter hemlines, school-inspired accessories like Mary-Jane shoes, maybe knee socks. Ballet inspired items are cute for this too. 🩰

🍒 Cherry imagery is popular with this aesthetic as well. Here are a few photos that I found that I personally feel exemplify this look. I’m not going to give you a whole history deep dive, if you want that, this article by Litlelookz Studio is fantastic.

When I saw this, I thought, that would be a super cute photoshoot style, what would that look like? Here are some examples from previous sessions, not styled for this in particular but I think they kind of fit the look. I may have added extra pink for the vibe. 😉

Finishing Touches for a Coquette Photoshoot -

Accessories & Nails

The lingerie is a good start, but to really sell the whole aesthetic, especially this one, it’s all about the extras. Add a bow (or two!) to your hair, pack on the pearls, pink makeup, knee socks, and you have to finish the look with a cute nail look. Here are some ideas!
